Q. Why Dome Buildings?

A. Because the concept of a dome dwelling is more logical and practical than a conventional rectangular building.

If only the answer was that simple! After nearly a decade of trial and error, intensive testing, research, development and old fashioned "sweat off your brow" hard work, we are proud of our ability demonstrate exactly how Domeshells are superior to conventional dwellings.

If only they were Domeshells.

With the uncertainty of Climate Change looming and greater extremes of weather expected, sturdier construction techniques are becoming more of a necessity than an option. Recently, hailstorms, winds and fire have caused millions of dollars worth of damage to homes. Extremes of heat and cold are becoming more common. If only they were DomeShells.

DomeShells are built from non-combustible materials and our own tests and those from overseas indicate superior fire resistance. DomeShells is moving toward completing Australian Standard Fire testing to address Australian codes and regulations.

Old Cliche Number 1  - "Don't cut corners"  

This has always been a worthy sentiment, but now, one that is perhaps in need of revision; because we at Domshells have done just that, demonstrably and without any of the implied disadvantages.

Old Cliche Number 2 - "Think outside of the square"

Yes, it's is a cliche, but ultimately worthy of use in this instance because; while you're relaxing in your new Domeshell home, instead of having to clean out the gutters, you might also contemplate what a "Daddy Long Legs" spider used to look like.

Old Cliche Number 3 - "There's always a catch"

At Domeshells, we would respectfully like to re-define this adage to, "there is no catch".

Domeshells are BCA Compliant, meaning our buildings fully meet the Standards of the Building Code of Australia. Domeshells are also 100% First Home Builders Grant (FHBG) eligible.

Old Cliche Number 4 - "You can't fit a square peg in a round hole".

A common critique of our designs is that conventional furniture might not fit so well in a round building. This critique, while understandable is, a misconception. Furniture actually sits against a curved wall better than you might imagine - even though there might be a little more gap at the back of the furniture. Large pieces of furniture also work OK in the larger domes because the curvature of the walls is not so great. Pictures too, can be hung from the walls just in the same way as in a square house. Ask anyone who lives in a dome house and they are likely to tell you that the space works much better than rectangular rooms. Furniture is rarely placed in direct contact with walls in conventional homes because it might damage the fragile plaster work and inhibit air flow. With a Domeshells home, there is no fragile plaster and the gap between furniture and wall is only slightly increased, but sufficiently so to enhance airflow throughout the building.

Dare to be different

Because Domeshells look so strikingly different to angular housing, the idea of a domed home can be quite confronting. However, if you do dare to be different, you'll be rewarded by the calming atmosphere and light play, innately present in every Domshell home, inside and out. As daylight enters, the changing moods, sense of calm, safety and comfort come naturally; and at night time; when your Domeshell home is illuminated from within, the sensation created must be witnessed to be believed.

From little things, big things grow.

With a Domeshells home, you have the choice of starting small and extending in increments that suit your budget and timeframe. One of the most compelling applications of a Domeshell construction is as an addition to your existing home. Pre fabricated and delivered, they make an ideal guest room, studio, out house or storage space. If you buy one, chances are you'll find yourself "vision boarding" much bigger things.
