Method of Construction

DomeShells c2s3™ structures are capable of being built faster
than conventional buildings,
particularly when large numbers of units are being
constructed in close proximity. Quantity of materials
required for a DomeShell is considerably less than a conventional
building and the basic materials come in 200 litre drums and in
20kg bags of DomeShells Dynacrete™ which is
the proprietary material specifically designed for optimal
performance of c2s3™Technology.
This can be a significant advantage
when building in areas where transportation costs are
high (e.g. remote areas).
A DomeShell is built using a rigid or
inflatable (air) former fabricated in the shape of the DomeShell.
Once the former is attached to the perimeter of the slab or floor
platform the inside of the former is accessed through an airlock
system and the process of applying the various layers of the
sandwich system can begin.

All layers of material are sprayed on. The first layer of Glass Fibre Reinforced
Concrete (GRC) is sprayed onto the mould surface followed by the
core layer of polyurethane foam, followed by the final skin of GRC.
This produces a lightweight but extremely strong and thermally
efficient shell- structure.
There are two essential pieces of equipment required for the
construction of a DomeShell using c2s3™Technology. A GRC spraying
machine and a polyurethane foam spraying machine.
There is no timber and practically no steel
used in the structure above slab level. All window and door jamb
openings are cast into the opening spaces during construction and
the door/ window joinery just pops in with minimum fuss and no need
for architraves etc. Aluminium, steel or timber windows and doors can be installed.
DomeShells standard range uses standard size aluminium joinery
either single or double glazed.
A DomeShells trained and certified building crew
are competent in the use of all necessary plant and equipment and
capable of completing the entire shell including
installation of electrical conduit systems, installation of windows,
doors and skylights. |
