Domes, Dome Roofs and Shell Structures – elegant, simple, natural
Residential Domes – Resilient Against All Extreme Natural Forces
Domeshells innovative, patented building system is based on a sandwich panel of composites formed in a compound curve shape such as a “dome”. A Domeshell is formed as a monolithic shell structure having no seams or joints and can be constructed in sizes from 3.0m diameter to 12.0m diameter.
They can be stand-alone or linked together to form multiple dome homes. The sandwich panel comprises a core of polyurethane spray foam with “glass fiber (or basalt fiber) reinforced concrete” (GRC) structural coatings on either side forming a light weight yet extremely strong and exceptionally well insulated monolithic shell.
Domeshell structures are capable of withstanding extreme winds, earthquakes, hail, snow, heat and cold.

Residential Domes – Design and Construct
Working together with our client we can provide:
- architectural plans ready for council in close consultation with you on your design
- structural design for foundations, slabs dome shells and building elements
- builder referral and builder training (through Domeshells builder affiliate program)*
- owner builder services
Domeshells are inherently strong and energy efficient. A Domeshell can be designed for many different extreme loads such as strong winds, hail, snow, heat and earthquakes.
Can a Domeshell be Earth Covered?
A Domeshell is capable of being covered in earth but may require additional engineering and ventilation depending on the extent of cover.
Need a Builder?
Domeshells trains builders how to build domes both at our Dome Builders Training courses and on the job training.
Domeshells will work with you and or your builder to find the best way to get the job done.
Domeshells offers great opportunities to builders and we welcome any builder interested to become a Domeshells builder. Ask your builder to get in touch about how we can get them up and running.
Want to be an Owner Builder
We are very owner-builder friendly and there are options of how you might want to go about it. One way is for you to attend one of our Builder Training Courses. Another is to get us or your local builder (trained by us) to just build the shells and you complete the internal works.
If you are contemplating building a dome we highly recommend that you build one of our smaller domes first.
DIY “Garden Room” Dome Manual for the 3.0m & 3.5m DomeShell
The Only Manual of it’s Kind on How to Build Domes
A 3.0m or a 3.5m diameter Dome can usually be built in a back yard without council approval as they comply with the Australian Building Code “exempt development” if built as a shed.
This is the easiest and best place to start not only for DIY’s and Owner Builders but for anyone wanting to learn how to build domes. Building a small dome is similar to a large dome only much easier in scale.
International Dome Builders
We are interested to talk with anyone wishing to establish Domeshells in their country.
Building in Underdeveloped Countries
Many under-developed nations have massive housing and shelter problems for their people. Domeshells can be adapted to provide the most basic shelter utilizing mostly local materials and the manual discusses many alternative methods and materials which could be used.
