3.5m Dome Shell Studio or Eco Tourist Accommodation

Below are two examples of a 3.5m diameter dome shell.

3.5m dia. (9.6m2)

3.5m Bamboo Dome at Byron Bay

One of them was built by students at a 1-week dome-building workshop in Byron Bay. The studio is regularly used as a healing and massage space and hosts meetings of small groups of up to 12 people.

Using bamboo and galvainsed mesh came from our experience in a multi-dome project at the Mentigi Bay Resort in Lombok.

Western countries are not used to using bamboo in construction but along the tropical belt of the world where bamboo is plentiful, it is widely accepted as a legitimate building material.

Domeshells has conducted its own load testing of such a construction and the survival of the Mentigi Bay domes of a 7.1 earthquake in 2018 in Lombok has proven its capability.

3.5m GRC Sandwich Panel Dome Music Studio

The 3.5m dome below was built by Domeshells in our client’s yard and is used as a music studio. Inside are a piano, drums, and guitars.

This dome was built over an air form to create the dome shape. The windows and doors are fabricated over a temporary plywood form.

The 3.0m and 3.5 m domes are popular with many DIY customers who purchase one or more of our manuals. Learn more here.

Whether you want to experience the superior acoustics of a dome or you need an extra bedroom or office studio, a dome shell offers so much more than a rectangular building.

At Domeshells we have spent years developing cost-effective easy ways to build concrete dome structures specifically for the DIY builder.
