Air Form Inflatable Concrete Dome Mould Costs

Domeshells use air forms as one of the methods for creating a mold for the fabrication of compound curved structures like domes.

An air form is like a balloon fabricated in the shape of the structure. The balloon is fixed down to the slab and inflated. Once inflated there are two methods that we use for fabricating the dome shell.

One method is from the inside of the balloon (air form) where all the materials are sprayed up against the dome ceiling.

The other method is to spray the materials on the outside of the balloon which is our preferred method.

An air form is made from reinforced PVC fabric that is fabricated into the shape of the structure so that, when the air form is fixed around the perimeter of the dome slab and inflated, it forms a rigid surface on which to apply render or shot-crete.

When an air form is well maintained and cared for it can be reused many times meaning that huge savings can be made by distributing the air form cost over multiple projects.
