Shannon is a very practical person and seemed to have no problem designing and building this beautiful 7.0m-diameter bamboo ferro-cement dome in Bali, Indonesia.

One big thing was in his favour: there is a thriving bamboo industry in Indonesia, and, unlike in many Western countries, bamboo is a well-known and common building material.

Domes built in the same way in Lombok at the “Mentigi Bay Resort” survived a massive earthquake that flattened many buildings in local towns but left the dome resort completely undamaged.
